TicketText Talks To… 2Northdown

Located in the heart of London just a 30-second walk from King’s Cross’ Pentonville exit, 2Northdown is a live events space/Comedy Club. We caught up with 2N about the venue and what they've got coming up next year!

Tell us a bit about Northdown!

After officially opening its doors in June 2017, 2Northdown has quickly become the go-to live venue for the entire industry. Hosting the comedy elite through to the newest of new. In 2019 alone, our stage has been blessed but the likes of Frank Skinner, Romesh Ranganathan, Josh Widdicombe, Rob Beckett and we have so many more amazing talent coming this Autumn! When we are not hosting shows in the evening, our beautiful venue is often hired out during the day for rehearsals, events, conferences and even for podcast recordings!

What’s coming up that you’re excited about?

We have some amazing shows booked in for this Autumn & Winter. We are particularly excited about our regular monthly nights we host. Including Steen Raskopoulos improvises with Friends, Off The Kerb's Some Night In King's Cross, and Laughing Around Presents as well as our own in-house shows The Good Friday Show 2Northdown's Mic Check starting back up again after a summer break. We also have shows from Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018 Rose Matafeo, Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominee 2017 Mae Martin, plus a new show from Double Edinburgh Award Winner John Kearns with Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominee 2017 Mat Ewins! We have also just opened applications for our New Act Competition, and we can't wait to see what talent this year brings!

Where's the best place to grab a bite to eat before a show?

We're all big fans of Pizza Union and MEATliquor. If you have a bit more time here are also some AMAZING restaurants in Granary Square which is just a 5-minute walk away - our top pick would be Dishoom!

Got anything planned for next year?

Our diary for next year is already filling up nicely, as we carry on with our regular nights, plus some new acts who haven't been here before! In March, we will also be crowning our winner for our New Act Competition 2020!

You can check out all the hilarious comedy that's coming up at 2Northdown HERE.

Thanks for reading and we'll be back soon with more!

RHLSTP with Richard Herring ON SALE NOW!

RHLSTP with Richard Herring

Richard Herring’s interview podcast is usually recorded in London’s glittering West End at the Leicester Square Theatre, but now it’s going on the road.

Join the “Podfather" (Guardian) and "King of the Internet" (Time Out) as he chats with hilarious star guests in a theatre near you.

Previous guests include Stephen Fry, Dawn French, Sarah Millican, Steve Coogan and Bob Mortimer.

You can listen to all the 200+ previous episodes on Acast and iTunes. But it’s much more fun to see it live and hear all the bits that are too libellous and controversial to podcast.

Winner of Bronze Award for Best Comedy at the 2013 Sony Radio Academy Awards and the Chortle Internet Award 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2018.

"Jonathan Ross has a funny voice. And yes, Parky has a wise, crinkly face. But, for us, Richard Herring’s comedian-on-comedian chat action takes the crown... It's made us laugh more than anything else on the internet."- Time Out
